urx unit loader Ryan Reynolds on 'Wolverine' swordfights, mutants and 'Deadpool' franchise

Nice guy Ryan Reynolds plays a bit of a rogue — OK, he’s a real cad —  in Greg (“Superbad”) Mottola’s  ’80s romantic comedy “Adventureland,” with “Twilight” hottie Kirsten Stewart.

But he’s also got another character –- the wise-cracking Wade Wilson, a.k.a. Deadpool —  in the new “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” who was even more of a change of pace.

Ryan — now married to Scarlett Johansson (lucky guy!) —  has a sword sequence in “Wolverine” that is less than a minute on screen, but “it took months and months and months to prepare for.”

“When you think about it like that, it’s vaguely depressing,” he says. “But when you actually do it, it’s worth it when you see on the screen that’s me and it’s not a stunt person, and I’m doing the whole thing.”

Actorryan_dimit_56116811_600Ryan’s role in “Wolverine” started out as a cameo, but then they gradually added a bit more to it. “It’s definitely Hugh’s movie,” he says, adding that it also has an ensemble feel.  “There are a lot of guys in it –- there are a lot of characters. They’ve added a bunch of mutants that people  — the fanboys  — really love.”

Because of his sked with other films, there was still additional photography left at the end of “Wolverine. “So a lot of people thought they were adding scenes because they added more Deadpool,” he explains.

He first read the Deadpool comic series in the ’90s and admits that the character is something that I’ve been sort of mentioned about for a long, long time.”

“The character in the comic book, Deadpool, even mentioned me  playing him [laughing].  So … I think it was in some weird way, I was a little bit destined. But I love that character.  I love that franchise. I love that whole vibe.”

But Ryan’s reserved about a possible “Deadpool” film franchise.

“I’ve had a couple of people approach me about meetings for a ‘Deadpool’ movie, but I just think it’s absurd to even think that way
until this movie comes out,” Ryan says.

“I don’t even look at it like I play Deadpool.  I really think I’m more or less playing Wade Wilson,
obviously, and then I’m playing the creature that will eventually
become Deadpool.  But in this movie, it’s sort of his newly formed
version, so to speak.”
