The Jonas Brothers, known for their purity rings, aren't in a hurry to get a girl to take off her clothes. In fact, they want young girls to put on some clothes.
The JoBros are putting out a line of sportswear named "Jonas" aimed at tween girls, reports Women's Wear Daily. It's inspired by their upcoming Disney Channel show of the same name, debuting in May.
The clothes will follow a "preppy style," that includes T-shirts, polo shirts, argyle sweater vests, plaid shorts, jeans, leggings and denim skirts.
Although other tween-targeting stars have put out clothing lines — Miley Cyrus as "Hannah Montana," Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen and Hilary Duff come to mind — they were girls, dressing other girls. This Jonas venture borders on creepy, as if they're dressing up their fans for some prep school pre-"Gossip Girl" fantasy.
Pamela Lifford, executive vice president of Global Fashion & Home at Disney, is quick to point out, however, that the Jonases will not actually be designing the clothes. Their on-screen characters, not their real-life personas, will be influencing the designs.
Um, okay. They just happen to have the same names and look exactly like the Jonas Bros. and are in a band also. Got it.
"When you look at their customer following, we have the whole heartthrob play, which is a great thing for us to work with when we are talking about tween girls," says Lifford. "The Jonas Brothers are a lifestyle, not just a boy band. Their movie lets you into their world, and the clothing line is just another way to do that — it's a way to get closer to them and their world."
The clothing line will sell at retailers such as Kmart, Wal-Mart, JC Penney and Sears.

The Jonas Brothers also recently announced their world tour, which will kick off on June 20.
What do you think? Do you want the Jonas Brothers to "get closer" to tween girls this way? Do the clothes sound cute to you?
