Whew. It’s been two long years since the networks had a proper pilot season. With the writers strike — finally — a distant memory we can now get back to the business of making scripted television. Not say that reality shows won’t still be a staple, but who isn’t looking forward to more scripted comedies and dramas to fill up their DVRs?
The networks will make their fall schedule announcements in May, but we can give you a glimpse now of potential new members of the TV landscape.
2008-2009 Canceled TV Shows: Of course, to make way for the new shows, the networks have to get rid of some dead wood (even NBC, which is cutting its primetime by a third with the elimination of the 10 o’clock hour). They’ve been culling since last June, but expect more cuts — even of critical darlings and fan faves — before they’re through.
POLL: Shows on the Bubble, Keep ’em? Kill ’em? There’s almost 30 shows that hovering in TV purgatory. “Samantha Who?” “Chuck”? “Reaper”? Will they be renewed? Will they be canceled? It could go either way. Vote on which way you think the networks should go.
