Madonna threw her adoption party a wee prematurely.
The Material Girl’s request to adopt her second Malawi child was rejected Friday, April 3 because she did not meet a residency requirement, reports the AP.
Apparently, prospective parents must live in Malawi for 18-24 months. Madonna somehow bypassed this requirement when she adopted son David Banda, now 3, in 2008, which is why some critics say that her celebrity status gave her special treatment.
Not so this time. The judge at the hearing claims that 3 1/2-year-old Mercy, or Chifundo, needs suitable parents and “not someone who just flies in and out.”
Madonna currently has homes in New York and London. Besides being David’s mother, she’s also the single mom to Lourdes, 12, and Rocco, 8.
It’s unknown if she will appeal the ruling.
What do you think? Should Madonna appeal or try adopting elsewhere?
