Why wasn't Chris Brown at the BET Awards' celebration of Michael Jackson on Sunday night?
Word is that producers pulled Brown's performance at the last minute.
According to the New York Daily News, Brown’s appearance was considered risky business, what with all the bad publicity about his pleading guilty to a felony assault of Rihanna and getting five years' probation.
Reportedly, it was the Rev. Al Sharpton who caused a stir. “Al made such a fuss to the BET executives that they pulled Chris,” says their insider.
So did Jay-Z. “Jay … was very vocal about his displeasure with Chris attending the ceremony. He didn’t want Chris anywhere near the awards so close to the court’s ruling.”
But BET publicists and Brown’s camp insist the singer was never confirmed for the show.
That's also what a rep for Rihanna — who also did not attend the show — says.
