Okay, so I'm starting to get this whole "Comic-Con" thing.
It's my first year at the Con and, though I was fully frightened by what might be in store before descending upon San Diego, three days in, it's really not so bad.
Not only do you have the privilege of witnessing things like Dominic Monaghan's public introduction as a "FlashForward" cast member in front of a roaring crowd, but you get to go to parties where TV stars like Kunal Nayyar and "The Big Bang Theory" crew are celebrating the four thousand plus people that showed up to scream for them during their Comic-Con panel that day.
Yeah, at last night's Warner Brothers cocktail party — great gathering, by the way — the "BBT" cast, stars like Elizabeth Mitchell — who's apparently staying in the hotel room across from mine, she was spotted exiting yesterday evening, yay — and every single actor on "Chuck" came out to drink and be merry and it was actually fun… probably because they didn't have to be on set at 8 the next morning.
In fact, they were all party hopping. From the WB party, Kunal, Zach Levi and company made their way over to the Hard Rock Hotel where iesb.net's Wrath of Con soiree was happening. And, yes, this little get-together was so happening that Joss Whedon — whom I'd call the unofficial mayor of Comic-Con, maybe even king — was patiently waiting with two of his "Dollhouse" actors — Dichen Lachman and Enver Gjokaj — to get in.
And guess what, I don't think they did.
I watched a good half hour pass as Whedon, Lachman and Gjokaj stood on the sidewalk outside, hoping the bouncers — who clearly had no clue — would let them past the velvet rope.
Eventually, Whedon was recognized by passersby and even started signing autographs and posing for pictures with fans.
But he still wasn't getting into the party.
A fellow Comic-Con attendee asked, why aren't you pulling the "Do you know who I am?" card?, to which he replied, "I don't know who I am… I think I might be Jeph Loeb, but I'm not really sure."
