The Universal Pictures flick will be directed by “17 Again’s” Burr Steers, according to Variety.
If Basinger inks the deal, she will play the mom of Efron’s character, a cemetery caretaker who has
weekly meetings with a younger brother whose accidental death he feels
was his fault. Not as happy as tapping your feet to the music, but then again, they all can’t be musicals…
Jon Heder gets in touch with his supernatural side again with “Buddy Holly Is Alive and Well on Ganymede” — a film based on the sci-fi novel of Bradley Denton, per Variety. Heder will play a geek whose uneventful life changes when the late singer turns up on every TV channel and declares that Heder’s character is the only one who
understands why this is happening. Holly’s presence is also why Heder will be chased by
a mob of disguised aliens. Because when you think of Holly don’t you naturally think aliens?
Robert Rugan will direct.
Natalie Portman and Denzel Washington are adding to their behind the camera credits, according to RadarOnline.com and The Hollywood Reporter. The “Star Wars” starlet will produce the film “Booksmart,” which will center on two high school friends who realize they haven’t achieved any goals at the end of high school. So they set their sites on one goal: getting a boyfriend by prom.
And as for Denzel Washington, the two-time Oscar winner, may be looking forward to sitting in the executive producer’s chair for a TV show called “Billy
Stiles,” a cop drama that centers around a genius gang member-turned-cop. The project was originally developed as a cable series but was
later reworked as a network show and taken to FOX.
Few details have been released about the project, but keep in mind, this is not the first time Washington has been on the small screen — remember he got his start on NBC’s “St. Elsewhere.“
