Patricia Heaton did not have her finest hour on Monday.
The “Everybody Loves Raymond” Emmy winner and star of ABC’s new comedy “The Middle” had a rough go of it on the celebrity-charity portion of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” Monday night. On top of that, she’s being sued by a former personal assistant for unpaid wages and wrongful termination.
First, “Millionaire.” Celebrities have been appearing in ABC’s 10th-anniversary revival of the game show, answering one question to win $50,000 for a favorite charity. Heaton, playing for a medical clinic in Sierra Leone and a pregnancy clinic in Los Angeles, was asked the following question: “If one euro is worth $1.50, five euros is worth what?” Her possible choices: Thirty quarters, fifty dimes, seventy nickels or ninety pennies.
Heaton blanched, exclaiming “I am so bad at math!” Thus began a nearly five-minute ordeal that’s better seen than described (the question comes about the 3-minute mark).
As for the lawsuit, RadarOnline reports that Heaton’s former assistant, Jennifer Lee, filed suit Monday claiming Heaton and her husband, David Hunt, owe her thousands of dollars in unpaid wages and overtime. Lee is also seeking damages for wrongful termination.
