Adrien Brody is a darling of the quirky movie scene. Now it’s time for him to get to da choppah. WTF?
The “Brothers Bloom” star has signed on to follow in Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s footsteps and lead the cast of “Predators,” Robert Rodriguez’s sequel to the 1987 sci-fi action flick.
Brody — usually seen in films like Wes Anderson’s “Darjeeling Limited” — will play a mercenary leader who must help a group of human killers survive against the dreadlocked alien hunters, according to Variety. Topher Grace is in final talks to co-star as a serial killer who just happens to be part of Brody’s team. Danny Trejo, Alice Braga and MMA fighter Oleg Taktarov have also signed on.
Rodriguez’s plot, titled as an homage to James Cameron’s 1986 “Aliens,” finds a number of humans kidnapped by the predators and shipped to an alien world to compete against souped-up aliens.
We want to repeat this: Brody, who won a Best Actor Oscar for 2002’s “The Pianist,” will be fighting aliens. Awesome. Filming begins this November in Hawaii.
