Angelina Jolie might just be gunning for a killer fashion role: Jolie, who hasn’t graced the big screen since 2008’s “Wanted,” is in talks to play Patrizia Reggiani in Ridley Scott’s designer mystery “Gucci,” according to the trades.
Scott’s film for Fox 2000 would follow the Gucci family through their ascension to the top of the fashion world through the 1970s and ’80s, capped by Maurizio Gucci’s murder in 1995. With that killing, the Gucci family lost its last links to the designer line that continues to bear its name.
Two years later, Maurizio’s ex-wife Reggiani was arrested for arranging the hit. She was later convicted and sentenced to 29 years in prison.
There’s no word yet on who might co-star, though rumors have placed Leonardo DiCaprio‘s name close to the project. Production is tentatively scheduled to begin in 2010.
