Angie Harmon, who you can often see on TNT during the day in “Law & Order” reruns, is angling to crack the cable channel’s original-series roster as well.
Harmon has taken the title role in the pilot “Rizzoli,” which is based on a series of mystery novels by Tess Gerritsen. She’ll play a Boston homicide detective who teams with medical examiner Maura Isles to solve cases. Isles will be part of the pilot as well; the role has yet to be cast.
Janet Tamaro (“Bones,” “Sleeper Cell”) is writing the script and executive producing with Bill Haber and Michael M. Robin (“The Closer”), who’s also directing the pilot.
Harmon’s most recent series gig was on ABC’s “Women’s Murder Club” in 2007-08. The former “L&O” prosecutor also starred in the Lifetime movie “Living Proof” last year.
– Starz has confirmed that Bell and “Glee” star Lynch will both make guest appearances on “Party Down’s” second season, which is due in the spring.
Lynch will reprise her character, Constance, for the show’s season finale. Fellow “Party Down” cast member Ryan Hansen tells E! Online that the episode revolves around Constance’s wedding — “I’m assuming we’re catering,” he says.
Lynch was a regular on the show last season, but her involvement in “Glee” precluded her from returning full-time. Megan Mullally came aboard the show in September as her replacement on the catering team.
Bell, meanwhile, will once again play intense rival caterer Uda, who apparently took Henry (Adam Scott) up on his offer of a date in last season’s finale. Henry and Uda’s relationship will be a topic of discussion for much of the season, but as of now Bell is only booked for one episode midway through the run.
