Hello, Angels. ABC is hoping to revive another television classic.
ABC is close to ordering a pilot for the rebooot of “Charlie’s Angels” from “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” showrunner Josh Friedman, reports Variety.
Besides Friedman’s expertise at adapting a franchise for the screen, previous “Charlie’s Angels” producers Leonard Goldberg, who was involved in the original 1976 Aaron Spelling show, and Drew Barrymore, who was involved with the more recent film adaptations, are on board.
ABC has had initial success with its reboot of the ’80s sci fi miniseries “V,” which pulled in good numbers for the premiere, but dropped a bit in the second week.
Of all the remakes that have been on the networks lately, this seems like a promising prospect. “The Bionic Woman” and “Knight Rider” both tanked, and “Melrose Place” is holding out to see if Heather Locklear guest starring during sweeps will make a difference. (Speaking of, have you seen her first scene?)
But you know, ass-kicking women on TV? Ass-kicking women with great hair?? That’s always pure gold.
