Alfre Woodard‘s daughter Mavis Spencer is golden.
Hollywood Foreign Press Association President Philip Berk named Mavis Miss Golden Globe for 2010 at Tuesday (Dec. 8) night’s Golden Globes Salute Young Hollywood party held at Nobu restaurant in Los Angeles and sponsored by InStyle.
Mavis will join host Ricky Gervais at the Golden Globes awards ceremony Jan. 17. Miss Golden Globe traditionally helps during the ceremony in an honorary role. Previous honorees include Melanie Griffith, Linda Evans, Laura Dern, Joely Fisher and Rumer Willis. “It means a lot to me as a young person to be a part of something with such a rich history,” Mavis says. “I know how my mom feels when she brings home a statue. And to hand someone a token of their accomplishments when they’re elated will just be really cool. I have memories of my mom traipsing off to the Globes, but this year she’s with me! And we’re going to have so much fun.” Mavis seemed a bit overwhelmed by all the cameras and video crews on hand. Wait until she sees the wild crowd at the upcoming Globes. She plans to study — big shock here — acting at Columbia starting next year. Also on hand Tuesday night enjoying the sushi and bubbly were “Twilight” vamp Kellan Lutz, likely “Up in the Air” nominee Anna Kendrick, “Dancing With the Stars” finalist/punk princess Kelly Osbourne and “Battlestar Galactia” hottie Katee Sackhoff (who will play Chloe’s assistant on the next season of “24” — Can’t wait!).
