Talk has been heating up of late, including Cowell’s partner on the U.K. version naming Las Vegas as the optimal “X Factor” setting.
“I think the show will go to America,” Cowell told the BBC’s Newsnight. “It has to go to America. There has to be an American version of the show. To not make ‘The X Factor’ in the biggest market in the world would be crazy.”
Thing is, “The X Factor” is not — despite its name — the adventures of Wolverine and friends, but a competition to find amateur singers. Much like, you know, “American Idol.”
So would FOX be willing to let Simon create what could become a drain on “Idol’s” audience? Or does the network see this as a way to move the decreasing “Idol” watchers to a fresh new addiction?
