ABC formally announced the reshuffling of the “Good Morning America” team on Thursday, and then it got the new team together for a photo shoot.
Here’s the first shot of the new crew — news anchor Juju Chang, who comes over from “20/20”; co-anchors George Stephanopoulos, who’s replacing Diane Sawyer, and Robin Roberts, who moves up from news anchor; and weatherman Sam Champion.
What I love about this photo is the effort made to make sure Roberts, who stands about 5-foot-10, doesn’t tower over Stephanopoulos, who’s maybe 5-foot-7, and the rest of the team. Everyone is leaning into the “Good Morning America” sign a little bit, but Roberts looks like she’s hunched way over.
Sawyer will take over as anchor of “World News” on Dec. 21, and Chris Cuomo will join Elizabeth Vargas as a co-anchor of “20/20” and the network’s chief law and justice correspondent. Stephanopoulos will continue to host the Sunday interview show “This Week” until ABC finds a replacement.
