Dr. Cal Lightman may have made a serious error, and the cast of “The Shield” are involved.
“The Shield’s” Catherine Dent, Kenny Johnson, David Marciano, Benito Martinez, Cathy Cahlin Ryan and David Rees Snell will descend upon “Lie to Me” as guest stars for an upcoming episode.
This en masse casting coup is courtesy of “Lie to Me” executive producer Shawn Ryan, who snagged an Emmy for writing on “The Shield.”
In the episode, Dr. Lightman (Tim Roth) witnesses the execution of convicted child murderer Jason Wilkie (Marciano), who he helped convict. But maybe Lightman made a mistake. The victim’s aunt and uncle (Dent, Martinez) are targeted once again, and so Lightman questions Wilkie’s younger brother (Snell) and ex (Ryan), which leads him to key suspect Malcolm Hessler (Johnson), a photographer.
The episode, title “Pied Piper,” will air sometime next spring.
The back nine episodes of “Lie to Me” was recently picked up, making it a full season. There’s no word yet on when the show will return in midseason.
In other FOX news, “Glee” co-creator, writer and director Brad Falchuk has signed a two-year, seven-figure deal with 20th Century Fox TV, in which he’ll stay on “Glee,” but will be expected to develop and direct other projects, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
