Robert Redford welcomed reporters to the 2010 Sundance Film Festival Thursday, Jan. 21, at the Egyptian Theater on Main Street in Park City.
But he really, really hopes that Paris Hilton — or any of her kind, if you get our drift — won’t come to the festival this year. Or any year.
]]>Redford admitted that his indie fest was “sliding” over the past few years, in part due to an invasion of “ambush marketers who took over Main Street and the houses in the mountains, at three or four times [the normal price] to hand out their swag.”
“You end up with Paris Hilton here who had nothing to do with us.”
“There’s nothing we do about that, but it kind of engulfed what we did,” Redford acknowledged. “Now with the economy, these people can’t come back or I hope they don’t come.”
Sorry, Bob. As long as there’s even a little swag to be had, chances are Paris and/or her ilk will be there.
