“Dancing with the Stars” co-host Samantha Harris is departing the show after eight seasons.
Harris won’t be back for “Dancing’s” upcoming season, which starts March 22, an ABC rep confirms to Zap2it. The network says it hasn’t settled on a replacement for her yet.
“It has been an absolute pleasure to work with Samantha since she joined the ‘DWTS’ team in season 2,” executive producer Conrad Green says in a statement. “She will be much missed, but always part of the ‘DWTS’ family. We support her and wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”
Harris tells People, which broke the story, that she’s leaving “DWTS” to focus more on her other gigs — she’s a correspondent for “The Insider” and works at “Entertainment Tonight Weekend.”
“I interned at ‘Entertainment Tonight’ 15 years ago, the summer after my sophomore year at Northwestern, and I dreamed of working in the same space as hosts Mary Hart and Mark Steines,” she tells the magazine. “Now I’m living that dream.”
She adds that her time on “Dancing with the Stars” “could not have been more of a dream job. I loved every single second of it, and I’ve made lifelong friends at the show.”
What do you think of Harris leaving “DWTS”? Good, bad or indifferent?
