Late-night rivals David Letterman and Jay Leno came together for a Super Bowl truce of sorts, but it wasn’t easy.
According to the LA Times, the logistics of shooting the commercial played out like an espionage flick.
Leno secretly boarded a flight to New York on Tuesday (Feb. 2), sneaked into the Ed Sullivan Theater and dressed in his best undercover gear: fake mustache, sunglasses and hoodie.
The secret was kept from most of the CBS and NBC staff. Naturally, however, Oprah Winfrey was in the know since she also makes an appearance as a mediator of sorts between the her fellow hosts.
The “Late Show” promo was written by Letterman himself.
