Did you forget Hector Elizondo played Barney Thompson, the crusty hotel manager who had a soft spot for Julia Roberts‘ hooker-with-a-heart-of-gold Vivian?
We had to be reminded too! But Barney is integral to one of the best parts of the whole movie — Vivian going shopping and learning how to use all the fancy silverware. Classic! In another “Valentine’s Day” connection, director Garry Marshall headed up both films.
In other rom-coms, Hector and Julia were reunited in “Runaway Bride” and Elizondo also starred as Captain Louis Renault in the short-lived TV series version of “Casablanca.” Meanwhile, Julia’s laundry list of rom-coms could be its own post, but we’ll just leave it at we love “Pretty Woman,” “My Best Friend’s Wedding” and “Notting Hill.”
“Valentine’s Day” hits theaters Friday, Feb. 12.
Tomorrow: Anne Hathaway/Topher Grace
