CBS’ comedy project based on the Twitter sensation S*** My Dad Says has landed the dad in question: Emmy winner William Shatner.
Also at CBS, Kristin Kreuk will continue working with “Chuck” boss Josh Schwartz in his comedy pilot “Hitched.”
The Shatner project — which doesn’t have an official title yet — is based on Justin Halpern’s massively followed Twitter feed (1.1 million-plus as of Friday). The casting of Shatner (“Boston Legal,” “Star Trek”) makes the pilot a go, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Halpern, a writer who moved in with his parents last year — thus putting him in proximity to stuff his dad says — co-wrote the script with Patrick Schumacker. “Will & Grace” creators Max Mutchnick and David Kohan are executive producing.
– Kreuk, meanwhile, will play one of the two lead roles in “Hitched,” a comedy about newlyweds who don’t really know each other yet. Jack Carpenter (“I Love You Beth Cooper,” “The Return of Jezebel James”) has been cast as her new husband, the HR says. They join Eugene Levy, who was cast earlier this week as the groom’s father.
Former “Smallville” star Kreuk has had a recurring role on “Chuck” this season, which she’s scheduled to wrap up soon after the show returns from its Olympic break. “Chuck” writer-producers Schwartz and Matt Miller are behind “Hitched.”
