Sonya Walger and Dominic Monaghan will both be back on “Lost” before the show ends in May.
Walger confirmed Thursday (March 11) what “Lost” co-creator Damon Lindelof told the crowd at the Paley Festival a couple weeks ago — that she’ll be back to wrap up the story with her character, Penny Widmore, and her love, Desmond Hume (Henry Ian Cusick).
“I have been back, and I will be going back,” Walger said during a press day for “FlashForward,” which stars both her and Monaghan. She also noted that she’ll appear in the series finale on May 23.
“It’s so nice to go back to — I really have such a fondness for Penny and that whole storyline,” Walger said. “I’m delighted and honored, honestly, that they wanted to tie it up and have me come back and finish it out.
So does she want a happy ending for Penny and Des? “Of course I do. Totally! Who doesn’t? … I think people are invested in Desmond and Penny in a way that defies belief. So I think — I’d be very, very surprised if they didn’t end up together. But you never know.”
Monaghan, as you’ll see in the clip below, was more circumspect about the return of Charlie Pace — whom we saw briefly in the season premiere — saying he and Lindelof wanted to keep details “close to the chest.” He does say, though, that “any time Charlie is going to come back is going to be significant.”
