Jeff Beck and Joss Stone delivered one of the most memorable performances of “Idol Gives Back” for 2010.
They teamed up for a sultry version of “I Put a Spell on You,” which put Stone’s smoky voice at the forefront, highlighted by Beck’s bluesy and inreasingly intense guitarwork. They were backed by a four-piece band and the Jubilation choir.
The song originated in 1956, written by Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, and has been covered famously by Nina Simone and Creedence Clearwater Revival.
We think the Stone/Beck version can stand up to any of those.
