If you can’t be Captain America, might as well be his sidekick.
That’s the conclusion “Gossip Girl’s” Sebastian Stan came to after Chis Evans nabbed the title role in “The First Avenger: Captain America,” for which Stan also tested. Stan has now accepted the role of Cap’s sidekick, Bucky Barnes, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
In the Cap comics, Bucky is a teenage orphan who’s becomes something of a mascot to his late father’s fellow soldiers at an Army camp. When he discovers Cap’s secret, he joins the fight against the Nazis.
Stan has signed on for five or six pictures, THR says.
In addition to his role as Chuck’s nemesis and Serena’s short-lived flame on “Gossip Girl,” Stan has also appeared in “Hot Tub Time Machine” and has wrapped production on Joel Silver’s “The Apparition” and Darren Aronofsky’s “Black Swan.” He also starred on NBC’s “Kings” last season.
