Sophia Bush, who has starred on “One Tree Hill” for seven seasons, has just been cast in ABC’s pilot “Southern Discomfort.” She joins Mary Steenburgen and Don Johnson, who will play her parents. Bush’s character, Haley, will move back in with her dad after having left home years before.
Could this mean bad news for “One Tree Hill” fans? The CW hasn’t picked up their veteran drama for Season 8, but if they do, Brooke Davis is safe. Sophia’s deal with ABC is only valid if her “One Tree Hill” gig comes to an end. It’s a good thing, too — after Chad Michael Murray’s exit last season, we’re not sure the show could stand to lose another cast member.
There’s been industry speculation that The CW is choosing between “One Tree Hill” (one of its longest-running scripted series, second only to “Smallville”) and freshman family drama “Life Unexpected.” According to Zap2it readers, TV viewers do want “One Tree Hill” back, but not at the expense of “LUX.”
Though Season 8 is up in the air, Season 7 continues after a very, very long hiatus on April 19 on The CW. Check out the just-released promo below!
