real american stories Sarah Palin's 'Real American Stories' not so special after allLL Cool J and Toby Keith both complained publicly (LL, on Twitter) about Fox letting Sarah Palin use old interviews they gave on her “Real American Stories” special.

So two celebs didn’t want to appear on her show. And lots more didn’t even bother to watch it.

The special, which debuted Thursday (April 1) in Sarah’s pal Greta Van Susteren‘s “On the Record” time slot, drew 2.073 million total viewers and 472,000 A25-54 viewers.

]]> Palin’s special was down 10% in total viewers and 28% in the A25-54 demo demo compared to Greta’s previous Thursday episode. Did they tune in, then bail?  Looks like it. Ratings for the final 15 minutes were down 18%  and 22% in A25-54 viewers compared to the first 15 minutes. Those who did watch got to see stories about courage, patriotism and “warrior spirit.” Profiles featured Real Americans such as wealthy folks who donate money to good causes; a heroic Marine; a family with a son coping with cerebral palsy. One positive note: Palin didn’t have to refer to her hand during the show. She did well reading the teleprompter (after sharply criticizing Barack Obama for using one) . Editorial critics used phrases to describe her show such as, “frozen smiles and rhetoric,” “let down,” “infotainment”  and “innocuous.” We’ll take the warrior spirit displayed on “Dancing with the Stars” over Palin’s faux show.
