“Modern Family” star Rico Rodriguez has won our hearts as precocious Manny, who “The View’s” Sherri Shepherd describes as “a 45-year-old man living in an 11-year-old body.” Rodriguez says he doesn’t have much in common with his character.
“He’s so mature, and I’m not,” he says. Though he may not be as into Shakespeare as Manny is, they do share one important quality: they’re both mama’s boys, a claim Rico’s mom confirms with a nod from the audience.
Rico has an admitted flirt affinity for older women. Guest host Joan Rivers urges Rico to give her his best line. “You are a sweet-smelling flower in my garden of love,” Rodriguez tells her before producing a long-stemmed rose from behind the couch.
We’re thinking Rico and Manny may have more in common than Rico would lead us to believe.
