Don’t call it a comeback — unless, you know, it turns out to be one. Winona Ryder has landed a coveted role opposite Vince Vaughn and Kevin James in Ron Howard’s next movie.
The comedy, formerly called “Cheaters” but currently untitled, will star Ryder as James’ wife. When his best friend (Vaughn) discovers that she’s been sleeping with someone else, he confronts her and struggles with whether to break the news to James’ character.
Ryder’s casting was first reported by Deadline Hollywood. EW further reports that she beat out the likes of Uma Thurman and Kate Beckinsale for the role, which will be her first major-studio comedy in several years.
She co-starred in “Star Trek” and “The Private Lives of Pippa Lee” last year and has a couple of projects due for release in the coming months: Darren Aronofsky’s drama “Black Swan” the CBS/Hallmark Hall of Fame movie “When Love Is Not Enough: The Lois Wilson Story,” about the founder of Al-Anon, which premieres April 25.
Ryder, Vaughn and James are set to begin filming in May.
