Katelyn Epperly and Lilly Scott were eliminated on the same night of “American Idol” Season 9 back in March but were reunited for a performance on Wednesday, May 5 in Katelyn’s hometown of Des Moines, Iowa.
The Des Moines Register says that Lilly took the stage first (after a brief intro from Katelyn, which is the second video below) and played a set of “short, folksy original songs, plus a few covers.” She was joined onstage by the mandolin player form band Varlet, Cole Rudy.
Katelyn took the stage shortly at 9 p.m., immediately launching into a cover of John Mayer’s “Stop This Train.” She tells the Register in the interview below that she met Lilly on group night for “American Idol” and got closer when they became roommates when they got sick at the same time. She also says it’s great to back in Des Moines and in front of such a warm crowd.
