19 Entertainment didn’t waste any time getting their “American Idol” Season 9 winner Lee DeWyze and runner-up Crystal Bowersox to ink record deals.
“I’m not really sure of all the details myself, but I’m ready to start working, get this underway,” says Crystal.
“I’m really looking forward to the new album that I’m going to be making
now. ‘American Idol’ has given me a platform on a
major scale to make an unbelievable album,” says Lee.
According to Billboard, DeWyze signed to 19 Recordings Limited and RCA Records, while Bowersox is
signed to 19 Recordings Limited and Jive Records.
We wonder if there’s any particular reason that Lee went to RCA and Bowersox went to Jive. Current Idols at RCA include Chris Daughtry and Adam Lambert, while current Idols at Jive include Jordin Sparks, Kris Allen and Alison Iraheta.
Either way, the two will most likely start recording their albums concurrently with the “American Idol” nationwide tour this summer, so as to have albums to release in the fall, the same way Kris Allen and Adam Lambert did following Season 8. It probably helps to ride the momentum of the season and the tour, rather than waiting so long as seasons have in the past.
Will you be buying one or both of the Season 9 finalists’ records?
