Former “American Idol” producer Nigel Lythgoe can be pretty sweet on “So You Think You Can Dance,” but he has a wicked tongue on him when he’s off the show.
“Simon [Cowell] is a true entrepreneur, he puts other people’s money where his mouth is!” quipped Lythgoe at the BritWeek UKTI Business Innovation Awards on Tuesday (May 4) at the Four Seasons in Los Angeles.
Cowell was on hand to receive the Special Recognition Award for his contributions to television and entertainment in the UK and US, but it seems that Lythgoe also felt the awards ceremony could double as a roast.
He didn’t stop at Cowell, adding ex-“Idol” judge Paula Abdul to the fun.
“I’m not saying that Paula was gullible,” said Lythgoe, “but Simon persuaded her that F*** ‘All was a stately home in Hertfordshire.”
We think you have to say that with a English accent in order for it to work.
Lythgoe is quickly becoming our favorite loose-lipped reality competition judge. He just says the darndest things, like when he deemed the entire “Idol” judging panel replaceable.
Let’s ask him about Ryan Seacrest next.
