“American Idol” judge Simon Cowell joined fellow judge Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show Tuesday, May 25, just hours before the last performances by finalists Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze. This week will mark Simon’s last appearance on “Idol.”
“I am feeling a bit sad now,” Cowell confesses. “But at the same time, do you remember the last three weeks when you were in school and you couldn’t wait to get out? It’s a bit like that.”
“When you’re in this position, you start remembering all the great times you’ve had,” he continues. “[I’m most proud of] the fact that the show has remained popular … that we’ve all hopefully retained a sense of humor … with the exception of Ryan, who’s become a complete monster.”
And who is going to take the Season 9 title?
“If you’d asked me 5 or 6 weeks ago, 100% I’d have said Crystal. But I’ve changed my mind and I think Lee’s going to win,” Simon declares. “But the last two years I’ve got it completely and utterly wrong, so I don’t think anybody’s listening to me anymore.”
Watch the full interview below and also check out the montage of spoof videos Ellen has put together making fun of Simon’s on-camera expressions and laughter. She also gives him an “American Idol” alarm clock where the Ryan Seacrest button says, “THIS… is ‘AMERICAN IDOL’.” We wonder what the other buttons say? Hilarious.
