Jane Leeves may be starting her own new show, but she’s still making time to get “Lost.”
The former Daphne of “Frasier” joins Valerie Bertinelli, Wendie Malick and Betty White in the TV Land comedy series “Hot in Cleveland” starting Wednesday, June 16. As she films the third episode this week, Leeves’ mind also is on Sunday’s (May 23) wrap-up of the ABC drama that has taken plane-crash survivors through a mythic odyssey.
“I’m still trying to get through (the next-to-last) episode,” Leeves tells Zap2it. “I think we watched a fourth of it before we fell asleep. I’m just hoping the ending is not going to be about some monster trying to get off the island. I hope there’s real meat to it; I want there to be some meaning to the whole thing.”
Leeves thinks “Frasier” has aged well because of universal truths in the show’s humor. “We sort of pioneered farce in sitcoms,” the native of England reflects, “and it really stands the test of time. You watch those old episodes, and they really hold up.”
