Bret Michaels plans on living up to his rock star image by appearing on the Sunday, May 23 finale of “The Celebrity Apprentice” — after just being rehospitalized this week for suffering another warning stroke.
Michaels has made the finals of Donald Trump‘s NBC show, along with actress Holly Robinson Peete. If all goes well, he’ll be there for the final boardroom evaluation with The Donald himself.
]]>tells People. “We’re cautiously optimistic that he will attend the finale. But ultimately, it’s up to his doctors.” Michaels returned to Barrow Neurological Institute after he felt numbness on the left side of this body. While in the hospital, tests revealed he had experienced a warning stroke and also had a hole in his heart. His doctor, Dr. Joseph Zambraski, said in a statement on Michaels’ Facebook page that the heart condition is treatable and that they had diagnosed the problem that caused the warning stroke. As for if it’s safe for the rocker to fly in his condition, Dr. Keith A. Siller of NYU’s Comprehensive Stroke Care Center (who has not treated Michaels) says blood thinners might prevent further clots. “Being on a blood thinner – which is one treatment that can be offered in the interim while they decide what to do [about the hole in his heart] – does give him some protection, so he probably could fly,” says Dr. Siller. “As long as he’s on the blood thinners, that offers him significant protection against another stroke even with the hole not being closed.” Follow Zap2it, Zap2itChristine on Twitter and Zap2it on Facebook for the latest TV, movie and celebrity news.
