While Vegas odds might have been in Miss California’s (Nicole Michele Johnson) favor, the 24-year-old from Westlake Village, CA only made it to the Top 10 before getting cut out of the Top 5.
Rather, it was Miss Michigan (Rima Fakih) who took the crown. The Arab-American 24-year-old from Dearborn, MI beat out the four blondes that comprised the Top 5 for the title of Miss USA 2010.
However, things didn’t always look so promising for Fakih. She actually received the lowest score (8.3) in the first competition (swimsuit) of the evening as compared to the five women who eventually made it to the Top 5. She also nearly fell when she stumbled over the train of her strapless gown.
But she made it through to the final interview round, where she was asked whether she thought birth control should be paid for by health insurance (yes, she believes it should).
Right after being crowned Miss USA, host Curtis Stone asked her, “How do you feel?” Her response: “Ask me after I have a pizza.”
