Two things about “Outlaw’s” place on NBC’s fall schedule are a little bit remarkable.
The first is that the show, which stars Jimmy Smits as a Supreme Court justice who leaves the bench to return to practicing law, had little buzz for most of pilot season before it zoomed up NBC’s charts and ended up on the fall schedule (at 10 p.m. ET on Fridays).
The second, still odder, thing is that one of the show’s executive producers is Conan O’Brien — you know, the guy who was unceremoniously shown the door at NBC in January. O’Brien’s company, Conaco, is producing the show, which “Alias” veteran John Eisendrath created.
The cast also includes Carly Pope (“24,” “Popular”), Jesse Bradford (“The West Wing,” “Bring It On”), David Ramsey (“Dexter”) and Ellen Woglom (“Californication”).
