Paula Abdul has a new TV job — but not in any of the places where she’d previously been rumored to land.
The former “American Idol” judge will be joining the new CBS series “Got to Dance,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show will feature dancers of all ages and styles, both solo and in pairs or groups, competing for viewer votes. Abdul will also be an executive producer of the series and mentor contestants.
“Got to Dance” is likely to premiere in early 2011.
Since she left “Idol” last year, Abdul has been courted by several networks. ABC reportedly offered her a spot on “Dancing With the Stars” and was in talks with her about involvement in a “Star Search” reboot, but neither came together. She was also invited to appear on FOX’s “So You Think You Can Dance,” and her “Idol” cohort Simon Cowell hinted that he’d like to have her for the American version of “The X Factor.”
“Got to Dance” is based on a British series that premiered earlier this year.
