In case you see anyone wandering around in Jedi robes or Stormtrooper uniforms uttering “May the Fourth be with you” to everyone in sight, Zap2it is here to remind you that May 4 is Star Wars Day.
Yes, Star Wars fans have unofficially claimed this day simply because of the similar sound between May 4 and the classic film quote.
Some other Star Wars quotes you might hear today from enthusiasts:
“The Force is what gives a Jedi his power.”
– Obi-Wan Kenobi
“I find your lack of faith disturbing.”
– Darth Vader
“If there’s a bright center to the universe, you’re on the planet that it’s furthest from.”
– Luke Skywalker
“We seem to be made to suffer. It’s our lot in life.”
“Truly wonderful, the mind of a child is.”
“Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you?”
“The dark side crowds everything. Impossible to see the future is.”
In case Star Wars fanatics don’t get their fill of quote-offs and mock lightsaber challenges in today, they have another day that’s most likely marked on their Star Wars-themed calendars. The Los Angeles City Council declared May 25, 2007 as Star Wars Day in honor of the May 25, 1977 release date of the first Star Wars movie.
Incidentally, May 25 is also known and Geek Pride Day (not a joke).
If you have a little extra time on your hands today and want to celebrate the first Star Wars Day of the month, put yourself in a two-minute version of the Star Wars film of your choice compliments of JibJab.
