Zach Gilford‘s arc on “Friday Night Lights” is winding down — or has wound down, for those of you who watched on DirecTV last fall — so now he’s going fishing.
He’s also figured out a way to do it on someone else’s dime. Gilford was a guest on “Chelsea Lately” Tuesday (June 1), and he told host Chelsea Handler that his next project will be a show for the Outdoor Channel about bonefishing in Belize that he’s filming with, among others, Michael Keaton and Tom Brokaw. “It’s sort of like fly fishing in the ocean,” he tells Handler in the clip below, in between her flirting like mad with him. “I do a lot of outdoor stuff — I take kids backpacking in the summer.”
They also talk, of course, about “Friday Night Lights,” including his occasional complaints about his character Matt Saracen’s relationship with Aimee Teegarden’s Julie Taylor: “I’m starting to come around to it, but she kind of treated me like s*** [during] the whole courtship process.”
Take a look at the clip, and see if you can count up all the times Handler tells Gilford how adorable he is (and in case you’re wondering, it’s not age-inappropriate: Gilford plays a 19- or 20-year-old character on “FNL” but is actually 28, and Handler is 35).
