Director/producer Sam Raimi (“Spider-Man” trilogy, “Spartacus: Blood and Sand,” “Drag Me to Hell”) may take a trip somewhere over the rainbow.
According to NY Mag’s Vulture, the director has reportedly been offered Disney’s “Oz, the Great and Powerful,” a prequel to the MGM classic “The Wizard of Oz.”
]]> Joe Roth will produce. But there are more Oz movies coming up. Warner Bros. also has “Wizard of Oz,” scripted by Josh Olson (“A History of Violence”). And New Line Cinema, owned by WB, has “Twilight” producers Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey doing “Oz”, penned by by Darren Lemke (“Shrek 4”). That’s a heck of a lot trips to the wonderful world of Oz. And way too many flying monkeys (they still scare us). For Dorothy’s sake, let’s hope one of these doesn’t get off the ground. Who should play the young Wizard of Oz? Suggestions?
