OK, so we’re creeped out now.
The first trailer for “Paranormal Activity 2” has hit the Internet, and while there’s not a lot of information offered up in terms of story or characters, the dread-inducing atmosphere from the first movie is present in a big way.
The super-low-budget horror film was a huge hit last year, earning more than $100 million at the box office. A sequel was pretty much inevitable. Oren Peli, who wrote and directed the first movie, is a producer on the sequel, which was directed by Tod Williams (“The Door in the Floor”) and written by Michael R. Perry (“Persons Unknown,” “The Dead Zone”).
The budget is somewhat bigger, but the look of “Paranormal Activity 2” is pretty much the same as its predecessor. That strikes us as a wise move — there’s no telling yet if the sequel will live up to the sensation of the first movie, but staying close to the original seems like a better idea than, say, what happened with “Blair Witch 2.”
“Paranormal Activity 2” is scheduled for an Oct. 22 release. What do you think of the trailer?
