On the Top 11’s first competitive show — and “So You Think You Can Dance’s” first ever live performance show — Wednesday (June 16) night, penultimate dancer Ashley Galvan brought the show to a stop with a surprisingly sweet and sincere admission.
Kicking off the critique of her contemporary number with Season 3 All-Star partner Neil Haskell, judge Nigel Lythgoe asked 19-year-old Galvan “Have you ever been in love before?” and she responded with an emotional and halting, “As a matter of fact, I think I am.”
After the show, Galvan revealed the identity of her love: boyfriend of little over a year, 21-year-old ballroom dancer Jared Murillo.
If that name rings a bell, then chances are you’re a “High School Musical” — or boy band V Factory — fan, as he’s appeared in all three “HSM” movies. He also famously dated another Ashley, Ashley Tisdale, for two years.
Galvan and Murrillo met after she worked on the “Fame” remake with his bandmate Asher Book. Following playing a member of Vocal Adrenaline on the “Glee” Live! tour he’s currently working as one of the three new professional dancers on the British reality show “Strictly Come Dancing.”
While Murillo was in the audience Wednesday night, Galvan had yet to hear what his reaction to her TV declaration was.
