AMC sure is diverse! 1950s ad men on “Mad Men,” meth labs on “Breaking Bad,” a new spy thriller show in “Rubicon” and now zombies in the new fall series “The Walking Dead.” Check out the behind-the-scenes video and pictures.
Writer/director Frank Darabont says, “What I really wanted to do is do zombies. That’s all I’ve wanted to do since I was 14 years old and saw George Romero’s original ‘Night of the Living Dead.'”
“‘The Walking Dead’ fits in perfectly with AMC’s other programming, ‘Mad Men’ and ‘Breaking Bad.’ Both shows deal with strong main characters, troubled main characters and an environment where people have something to hide,” says executive producer Gale Anne Hurd.
“We hope to do for zombies what ‘Mad Men’ has done for advertising,” Darabont adds.
“The Walking Dead” is scheduled to premiere during AMC’s Fearfest in October, the network’s annual blockbuster marathon of
thriller and horror films. The six-episode first
season chronicles a group of survivors of the zombie-pocalypse as they search for a safe place to inhabit.
