dinner for schmucks box office 'Dinner for Schmucks' edges out 'Inception' at Friday box office

“Inception” finally loosens its grip on the U.S. box office — but not by much.

Paramount’s “Dinner for Schmucks” bested the two-week-old champ at Friday’s box office, despite tepid reviews and the trailers’ obvious warning of ventriloquy humor, with $8.3 million haul, reports Deadline.

The other two new entries thought to be in contention for this weekend’s title, “Charlie St. Cloud” and “Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore,” came in fourth and sixth respectively, failing to approach “Inception’s” close second and “Salt’s” third.
