giada de laurentiis gi 2 Giada De Laurentiis: 'I'd like to cook for Bill Clinton'Food Network chef Giada De Laurentiis loves to cook for family and friends, some of them famous, some not. But a former U.S. president is at the top of her wish list.

“I think probably I’d most like to cook for Bill Clinton,” De Laurentiis tells Zap2it. “At one point I thought I might go into politics. That was the other thing I was really fascinated with, how all the laws happen and who makes them happen and just all the stuff that goes on in Washington, D.C.”

Instead, of course, De Laurentiis — who currently is appearing as mentor to the contestants on “The Next Food Network Star” — became one of the most recognized faces in the contemporary food world, a cachet she has been able to spin into a number of other projects. Right now, however, she’s trying to learn to juggle it all with being a mother.

I have books, the ‘Today’ show and now my line [of foods and kitchenware] at Target, as well as my TV show, but I also want enough time with my daughter. I’ve been trying to figure out what the happy medium is.

“This summer I’m trying to decide how much more work I can pile on myself and still be able to watch my daughter grow. I don’t want to take on more than I can chew and suddenly realize my daughter is 10 and I have missed her youth. I want to do what I do well, but not so much that both my family and my work take a hit.”
