“He might shake the tree a little bit. I’d love to be able to say which
way he shakes the tree,” Mitchell tells Zap2it. “Now that he’s
back, he has his own perspective on things. It’ll be interesting to see
his whole take on the memorial.”
But Jason isn’t the only blast from the past for the “Liars.” Officer Wilden (Bryce Johnson), who was last seen getting kicked out of the Marin house, is back with a vengeance in light of the Toby Cavanaugh situation at Homecoming.
“He’s wanting to zero in his attention to Emily’s character, like she needs anything else to happen right now,” Mitchell cracks. “He shows up with a little more vengeance than he’s had in the other episodes. With him and Jason and the thing after Homecoming, there’s a lot of things that are going down for sure.”
“Emily is becoming more confident and she’s understanding a little bit more of what she wants, ” Mitchell says. “With everything that’s happening, she’s been going through quite a few things. So now it’s like what does she have to lose? She’s going to test it out.”
Playing a high school girl exploring her sexual identity is a unique opportunity for an actress and Mitchell is honored for the chance to portray Emily.
“I’m very, very proud to be playing Emily’s character — someone who is exploring her sexuality and not labeled right now as ‘lesbian’ or ‘straight’ or whatever,” Mitchell says. “It’s a struggle that many teens are going through. It’s a different type of character and that’s exciting.”
“There will be some more people added to the mix. And why not? Rosewood has more people than just the four of us,” says Mitchell. “With a few more characters added, they’ll have a couple more people to look at. As far as finding out who ‘A’ is or who killed Ali … I don’t know if that’ll be found out in this first half of season one.”
“Pretty Little Liars” airs Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET on ABC Family.
