charlie sheen highest paid Charlie Sheen still TV's highest paid, AMC picks up new series

Absurd salaries and Emmy bribes are just a few of the TV news bits here for you tonight:

An annual survey of TV’s biggest paychecks reveals that “Two and a Half Men” star Charlie Sheen is still the winner — by a mile. He pulls in $1.25 million an episode, besting runner up and costar Jon Cryer by $700,000. [TV Guide]

AMC announced a full-season order for the pilot formerly known as “The Killing.” The adaptation of a successful Danish murder mystery series starts shooting in Vancouver this fall, with a 13-episode run slated for sometime in 2011. [AMC]

“Cougar Town” showrunner Bill Lawrence has big plans for Season 2 cameos, namely his former “Scrubs” stars Sarah Chalke, Zach Braff, John C. McGinley, Donald Faison and Judy Reyes. He says at least one of them will be stopping by. [E! Online]

“Pushing Daisies” creator Bryan Fuller is returning to TV. The scribe, who also created “Wonderfalls” and “Dead Like Me,” will adapt sci-fi novel “The Lotus Caves” for — you guessed it — SyFy. [EW]

Watch your back, Taylor Swift. Kanye West will return to MTV’s VMAs this year, where he’s scheduled to perform at the September 12 award show. [US]

“Modern Family,” which previously made a play for an Emmy by promising a nude Sofia Vergara in exchange for a win, released a “For Your Consideration” ad in The Hollywood Reporter. It features young stars Nolan Gould and Rico Rodriguez promising to stay out of the tabloids. [THR]
