Steve Slater is making headlines Tuesday (Aug. 10) as the JetBlue Flight Attendant who, when confronted with an unruly passenger who struck him with the bag she was removing from the overhead compartment, got on the plane’s PA system, told off said passenger, grabbed some beers and exited the plane by inflating the emergency slide and soaring off to freedom.
A New York City judge has set bail at $2,500 for Slater, reports CBS News — apparently he is not a flight risk. At
the arraignment, in arguing for freeing Slater without bail, defense attorney Howard Turman
said his client was under stress because his mother has lung cancer.

Who wouldn’t want to tell off a passenger who is being rude to you? Our mom was a flight attendant in the 1970s. Once when a snotty 11-year-old boy was kicking the the man’s seat in front of him, my mom told him if he didn’t stop, she’d break his arm and lock him in the bathroom. We just wish she’d gone rogue by way of the emergency slide. Follow Zap2it and Zap2it Andrea on Twitter and Zap2it on Facebook for the latest TV, movie and celebrity news. Photo credit: Facebook
