There are a lot of new faces among the Emmy nominnes this year — just not among the nominees for outstanding lead actor and actress in a comedy series.
Seven of the 12 nominees in the two categories — four men and three women — are repeats from last year, including defending winners Alec Baldwin of “30 Rock” and Toni Collette of “United States of Tara.” And Larry David, who wasn’t eligible last year, is a three-time past nominee for “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” The only first-time nominee among the guys is Matthew Morrison of “Glee.”
There was more turnover among the lead actress contenders. Collette and past winners Tina Fey (“30 Rock”) and Julia Louis-Dreyfus (“The New Adventures of Old Christine”) are repeats from 2009, but “Glee’s” Lea Michele, “Nurse Jackie’s” Edie Falco and “Parks and Recreation’s” Amy Poehler are newcomers to the category. (Falco, however, has won three Emmys in the drama lead actress category for “The Sopranos.”)
So who’s it going to be — veterans or newcomers? Will Baldwin or Tony Shalhoub rack up yet another Emmy win, or could someone like Morrison or Jim Parsons break through? Can Edie Falco pull off a drama-comedy double and topple her fellow Showtime star? We want to know what you think — so vote in the polls below and tell us your favorites in the comments.
