Actress Barbara Billingsley has passed away at the age of 94, a family spokesperson confirms to the AP. She died early Saturday morning (Oct. 16) in her Santa Monica home and while the cause of death is not immediately known, she suffered from a rheumatoid disease.
Billingsley is best known for playing the iconic June Cleaver from 1957 to 1963 on “Leave it to Beaver.” She would reprise that role on an episode of “The Love Boat,” the 1980s series “The New Leave it to Beaver,” an episode of “Hi Honey, I’m Home” and on a 1995 episode of “Roseanne.”
Barbara also gave a memorable turn in the 1980 comedy “Airplane!” — “Oh stewardess! I speak jive.” — and was the voice of Nanny on “Muppet Babies.”
RIP, Mrs. Cleaver. Our condolences to your family and friends.
